Overview
After creating the intervention group, the intervention group builder must be completed. Depending on the way the intervention group was created, some of the items (such as the group name or students) might populate automatically.
Set up roles and permissions for staff using the MTSS module that best fits your district.
For example,
- Teachers might be able to view plans
- Interventionists might have permissions to view and manage plans
- Coaches might have permissions to modify and delete plans.
For more information on creating / assigning roles and permissions, view managing permissions.
(1) Access Security to assign permissions
(2) Choose "Users" to assign a school and role to individual users
(3) Choose "Role Assignments" to assign a role to several individuals at a time for a particular school.
(4) Use "Role Definition" to define current roles and to add new roles.
Here are a couple of tips for permissions in the MTSS module:
1. Those who are creating groups may need to see all students.
- Anyone can create an intervention group, but staff can only add students they have permissions to view.
2. Only those with the role of "interventionist" will drop down to select in the group builder.
- The intervention group can only be a draft group until an interventionist is selected; be sure to add the "interventionist" role to all who are giving interventions.
3. Limit the permissions to modify and delete to those who require it.
- Once an item has been deleted, there are limited options (if any) to retrieve it.
1. Group Name - Use a naming convention that allows you to find the groups easily/quickly. Click Save.
If this intervention group was built from a data wall or a dashboard, the Group Name will auto populate.
2. Intervention and Interventionist - These selections will drop down to choose. Those with administrative access will have set up the Intervention Dictionary and set permissions for interventionists.
Only one interventionist and only one intervention can be selected for a group. Changing an intervention or interventionist will close the current group and start a new one. More information on changing interventions / interventionist in Closing Intervention Groups.
3. Tier/Minutes/Schedule - Choose the information appropriate for the intervention. Enter the Minutes / Schedule according to the intervention group meeting times; for example, this group meets 30 minutes on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
4. Progress Monitoring - Select how often progress monitoring will occur- weekly, monthly, etc.
5. Click Save.
Reports can be generated on progress monitoring - See Editing Dashboards and the VIDEOon Chart Setup - Report 'Caseload Status with Date Range'"
5. Start Date of Intervention/ Weeks - Enter the date the intervention group began. The system will default to today's date. Typically, the start date is before the first progress monitoring score. If instruction goes on longer than anticipated, the weeks can be edited.
The system will require a date and weeks before saving the Intervention Group Builder. The system is flexible to allow users to keep intervention groups open and move students in and out of an intervention group without changing the dates or weeks.
6. Skills, CBM, Measure - To add a skill, click the drop down arrow in "Select Measure." The corresponding skill should populate automatically. If it does not, click the drop down skill to add it.
7. Click the green save/edit button to save the skill. When the drop downs are gone, the skill has been saved. If you have not added any data for the skill and need to edit or delete the skill, you can do that by clicking the green edit/save button or the red trash can. NOTE: these will appear if you have permissions to perform these functions.
Those with administrative access will have set up the skill and CBM dictionaries. See Add a Skill to Intervention Group
8. Click Save.
Add as many skills that will be monitored in this intervention group. The same skill cannot be added more than once per intervention group. See CBM Dictionary and Skill Dictionary to learn more.
8. Add students - See Adding students to New Group Builder
9. Make any necessary changes to progress monitoring - See Changing Date and Grade Levels
10. Save all changes
